The description of the video on YouTube says this: “ひとには言えない ひとよの、逢瀬”. The idea that the relationship between you/the heroine and the Shinsengumi guy in question is a “secret tryst” does not bode well, plus if you look at all the depressing things Saitou says in the video (transcribed above)……. Welp. I wouldn’t be surprised if the concept is like “last date before the guys are off to battle!” or something. That he says “……あってほしかった” is also telling since it’s in the past tense and just the fact that the series’ title references the forget-me-not flower…… A symbol of “enduring love” even in the face of death.
I don’t know why I love the Shinsengumi so much when inevitably every fictional canon related to them ends in awful tragedy. Because their real history ended in awful tragedy. I’m a real glutton for punishment, I guess. /sobsssss
